About the Program

This memorable program begins with a lecture for up to 200 people by Robert Thurman - President of the Tibet House, President of the American Institute of Buddhist Studies and Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University. The topic is "The Truth about Tibet - And Why It Matters So Much." Following the lecture, guests join Robert Thurman for a cocktail reception and dinner prepared by Cavallo Point's award-winning Executive Chef, Joseph Humphrey. The evening concludes with an auction of original, limited-edition art, travel opportunities and more.

Over the following two days, Robert Thurman leads a workshop limited to only 30 participants on the Teaching of Vimalakirti and the Yoga of Daily Living. In this two-day immersion, the group studies the Vimalakirti Sutra and relates it to living an engaged and free life in today's world. Vimalakirti, a wise Buddhist layman, is a renowned icon for living a life of successful worldly presence while developing body, mind, and spirit toward enlightenment.

One H.E.A.R.T. (Health, Education And Research in Tibet) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing morbidity and mortality in Tibetan women and newborns through health care, education, and research. Tibet House is a cultural institution dedicated to preserving and promoting wisdom and the arts of the distinctive and endangered Tibetan civilization.

• The week begins with the benefit event and dinner on Sunday night and ends after breakfast on Wednesday morning.
