The storied tradition of afternoon tea is said to have begun in 1840 in England when the seventh Duchess of Bedford found herself peckish around 4pm. Dinner was served fashionably late at 8pm, so she began to order tea with bread, butter and cake to her room. Soon enough, she began to invite her friends to enjoy it with her. We will start a bit early so we don’t spoil your dinner!
Menu may include:
Orange Scones with Devonshire Cream & Jam
Finger Sandwiches (Citrus Cured Salmon with Dill Lemon Mayonaise; Cucumber & Borage with Herbed Butter and Maldon Salt; Roast Beef with Horseradish Cream and Watercress)
Celery Stilton and Sage Tartlets
Shrimp and Cucumber Bites – Pumpernickel Toasts
Prosciutto and Fontina Flatbread with Arugula
Lemon Orange Blossom Tartlets
Chocolate Shortbread Cookies
